Is Monaco building 2010 Beavers? The Beaver web site addresses only 2009 and earlier Beavers.  I have checked known Beaver dealers and they don't seem to exist nor is there any indication that they are on order. Bend has had the same 2 coaches (2009) on there web site under new coaches for some time.  If they don't have any, I assume they aren't being manufactured.  Does anyone know what's going on with Monaco?

Like you, Bill, I haven't seen anything indicating what the deal is.  My guess is that since Navistar took over in June, it's taking awhile to reorganize the Coburg plant and production lines with the initial 180 rehires.  Keep in mind that Navistar wants to use the Oregon facilities for some of its commercial production (trucks and buses for California) as well as Monaco recreational output.  You are also trying to readjust your vehicle output to more adequately reflect market conditions, rather than put out a lot of units that won't sell, like last time.

One would hope that they aren't thinking along the same lines as Country Coach, and only produce coaches upon customer order;  that idea hasn't fared too well in Junction City, as that company finally had to go Chapter 7 the other day (see Richard and Babs Ames' recent post).  It's a delicate balancing act, especially in an economy like the present one.  If you produce only on order, you severely limit your customer exposure;  but you don't want to revisit the situation where you flood dealers with rigs they can't move.

Hopefully, Bend will soon see a few new coaches on the lot so our favorite salespeople will have something of each model that customers can actually see and touch.  As Country Coach found out, most people won't buy (or custom order) what they can't see.

It is the economy.  Please refer to the 8/21/09 post by the Administrator on General Boards of this Forum titled Monaco/Navistar Update.  We attended the Tucson Monaco rally in October 2009.  The message was about the same.  Until demand picks up, there will not be dealers willing to invest in inventory for us to look at.  If a buyer wants a coach in the high dollar catagory, Monaco will be happy to build it.  It is a new marketplace.

From Monaco:

Sent an e mail to Monaco to see what they are currently building.

I got a phone call from Ryan Lee the director of marketing for Monaco RV. Mr. Lee stated “ Monaco RV is not currently building any motor home products above the
$300,000 price point at this time”. The prediction for total RV shipments for 2010 is 204,000 RV's. This prediction comes from Dr. Curtin who works with RVIA.
6,100 of the total units will be motorhomes of which 50% will be diesel and this is the whole RV industry in the US.
“At this point in time Monaco is focused on building products that are in line with consumer demand, for the most part this is towable products along with Class C’s and mid to low end Class A’s stated Lee.” Mr. Lee also stated “when the demand for the higher end motorhome returns we will start building
them again”.

I feel there will be no 2010 Beaver product but maybe we may see a 2011 or 2012 and they do not have the capacity to do a special order.

Do you suppose that tis will increase the value of our BEAVERS as they will become more scare?
Wouldn't that be nice.

Contradicting the above statements quoted from Monaco, an article in the October issue of RV Life refers to Monaco RV's 2010 model Dynasty Majesty motorhome, a rig in the half million dollar range.

I would not want to own the first high end coach off the line.....the "trainer coach with training wheels".

If they are to succeed they need to build a few high end coaches a year on speculation just to keep the factory skills up and tooling in order. I agree with others, that they need to have some new coaches out there for customers to touch and feel. This is not a good business strategy. Time will tell....

Mr Lee's statement was actually edited by him and approved before I posted it. It was posted the same day so I would take it as the most current production information. Magazines can have a several month lead time. Lazy days also only had 3 Monaco diesel motor homes at the Tampa Super show and they were the lower price point.

We got into Lazy Days yesterday and I have only seen two "2011" Monaco Caymans in stock with Monaco/Navistar stickers on them.  I wonder if Navistar isn't missing the boat on this.  Lazy Days cannot keep Tiffin products on the lot including Zephyrs.  There has to be some demand in price points above $300k.

I am at Alliance Coach in Wildwood, formerly Monaco, and I have been to Lazy Days two times in the last ten days. I have observed the same thing you did, Tim. It seems the Tiffin products are leaving the lot as quickly as they arrive. This past Saturday I saw 2 Allegro Buses, One Zephyr and 2 Phaetons, both 42 footers being moved into. I also the 2 Caymans you mentioned. Lazy Days web site indicates they have 2011 Diplomats, but I have not seen them

My wife and I are camp ground hosts at Alliance Coach. They now have 13 Techs. Brett Howard and Caroline Champion are two of the three new owners. They are keeping busy. Most of the coaches here now are Monaco products.Since I arrived three weeks ago I have seen Newmars, Winnebagos, Discoverys, American Heritage, Newell, and a Prevost in for service. By the way, most all of the Techs were here when Monaco operated this facility.

If any of you find that you need service, you may call 352-330-3800.

I talked to Monaco last week looking for a manual for my older Beaver and they told me that they were not building anymore Beavers.
They say that most Beaver owners think the Holiday Rambler looks like a Beaver so they intend to put the Marquis wood in the Holiday Rambler Navigator and move on.

So much for the earlier Monaco comments about building Beavers on order.

I think my next coach will be a Country Coach, oops they're gone also.
