Gerald if you are still on we need help. The front door to our 2001 Patriot will not open. We are locked in. Has anyone else had this problem and do you know how to open it? The door handle has broken and we have very limited access to the inside area as the screen door is in the way.

You can remove the plate that is around the inside door handle. Once that is off, look at the mechanism that unlatches the door and see if you can use a screwdriver or pliers or something to unlatch the door. |

Has anyone tried the outside door handle? I'm not suggesting someone go thru a window as that is a nerve wracking experience. |

Yes, we get the same results with the outside door handle as the inside door handle. They seem to not be connected to anything. |

On our coach, after the plate around the handle is off, there is a larger panel that can be removed to give more acces to the latch mechanism. |

Yes, we have had a discussion with George Harwell and he said if we could get the pannel off, we could open the door. Hope it works. Thanks for your help! |

Thanks Gerald, but we had an Atlanta local mobile RV repair guy help with the problem. He had to remove the screen door and take the pannel off the door to get to the door opener mechinism. A part was broke off that is used to retract the bolt. He was able to repair it and it is working correctly again.
Thanks for your inquiry! Roger |
