My take on extended warranties since buying my 2008 Contessa is that I am providing my own by not buying any  I was with Good Sam extended warranty for years and when I had occasion to need it for a very expensive repair. they refused to cover my situation even tho I had complied with all their proceedures.  They lied and said I had not contacted them.  I refuse to do business with firms like that.  I have a nephew who is a lawyer who deals with insurance companies and his response was "insurance companies are in business to MAKE MONEY not provide service/protection".  Save your money and insure yourself.

We have a 1998 Diamante and had extended warranty for several years.  Every time we tried to use it, we were told the problem was "wear and tear" and "not broken" and thus not covered.  After talking with several Beavers with older coaches, I dropped the coverage.  I try not to think about all the money I wasted on the insurance.

i worked for caterpillar for years in the extended warranty department.  if you can buy a multi year warranty it may payoff but so far with my 1999 marquis i have not ran accross any with multiple years.
my opinion is to bank any money you would spend on a warranty and put it in the bank and protect yourself.

Jerry when I purchased my 2003 Monterey I turned down the extended warranty offered from the dealer, bur later decided I should have coverage. While in Bend having warranty work done I ask for and recieved a quote from the dealer at the service center that was more reasonable than I had been quoted. I then went to All seasons RV & Marine sales in Bend and recieved another quote for the same insurance that was even more reasonable and purchased it.The company was Warranty Business Service Corp. I purchased the Platnum Motor Home Plus. I have had excellant service from them and only been turned down on one claim. I still have almost one year left and at this time have collected a lot more than I paid for the policy. I may be the exception, but I am very happy that I purchased it.

Extended Warranties, Service Plans or whatever thay are called are considered an insurance product and regulated by the state in which you purchase the coverage. They are only as good as the company that sells it. Be sure you know what you are getting by reading the contract as no matter what the seller says you are getting what is in the agreement. Check out the company for fiancial stability and for complaints and shop arround.

Personally we have chosen to not purchase an extended warranty on our motorhome or anything else we purchase.
