I presently have GMAC insurance on my Beaver. I had a recent problem with them, and have been looking to change. I have found a company, National Interstate Insurance Company. Does anyone know of them, or had experience with them?
Thanks.

I have had National Interstate Insurance on my Marquis for 5 years. I can not give a good reference on how well they pay, because I have never had to filed a claim, but I have talked to other owners who were happy with the way that their claims were handled.

We have National Interstate and we are happy with them. We had one claim and got quick and courteous responses and the price was right also.

Sorry to hear you have had a problem with GMAC. We have GMAC and have had insurance through them for many years. We had a total loss on a Marquis as a result of an electrical fire two years ago. They were nothing short of fantastic to deal with and the settlement was fast and more than I had hoped for. We were easily able to replace our coach with the settlement. We would not consider any other company at this point.

GICO came up with a good number on our coach. One towing claim so far, no problems.

I checked National Interstate's website, but saw no reference to them suspending liability while a rig is in storage, like our GMAC does, something that can save considerable cost; especially since circumstances has kept us "camped" at home for 16 months. NI hasn't responded to my email query about liability suspension. NI does lower to $100 the deductible on windshield breakage - today's one-piece units go for over $1000 to replace.

We have had insurance with the Hartford for some years. We filed our only claim with them last summer. I distrust insurance companies but we had great success with these folks. AARP has insurance available through the Hartford but it turns out to be 25% higher than regular Hartford so beware. |

We have had National Interstate since we bought our 05 Santiam in June 2005. We have had 2 windshields replaced, one of them just a few weeks after we bought it. Also have had minor damage claims. We have always had very quick response and assistance with our claims and also our choice of repair facilities. NI pricing was much better than State Farm which we had had. Paul and Jane |

Just an FYI for everyone. The insurance company USAA has traditionaly been for active duty and retired military only. I understand that they are taking all previous and honorably discharged military at this time. I know people that swear by their service. I have had no experience with this company myself but I understand that their rates are low. I would like to hear more from anyone that has had this insurance. |

RE: USAA INSURANCE I have been with USAA Insurance since I was commissioned over 50+ years ago. I have found them a extremely responsible company and have NEVER had any problems with any claims made whether it was for vehicles or my homes. They have insured all RV's I have owned. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who qualifies for coverage. No company I have researched has ever beat their rates. If you want to check out if you qualify, go to their website and check it out. http://www.usaa.comLeah |

We have always been insured with USAA until 3years ago when we went full time and they would not insure RV's that were full time. Now we are not going to be full time and they still won't insure RV. They are using Progressive. |

We have always been insured with USAA, never any problems. However they do not insure motorhomes in the state of Oregon where we are registered and have a home. Progressive underwrites for Oregon, however, our tow vehicle in still insured with USAA. WE had USAA on the other motorhomes we had until we purchased the 2006 Pat. Thunder in 2008 in Florida, then it became Progressive. We have been Fulltimers since 2003, even though we have a home in Oregon

We had USAA on our first coach but they wouldn't insure our 2002 Thunder when we got it in Nov 2008(think they have a value limit now). USAA referred us to Progressive and we had them for a year but in the second year they wanted to raise the rates by 20% for no reason other than a general rate increase. We got a quote from GEICO that was a hole lot less for the same coverage and we went with them in Nov of last year. Haven't had any claims so I can't speak to their service in that regard.

We had a similar experience with Progressive last fall, but I think the increase was a bit more than 20%. We received a similar reply from the Co. (no explanation, just a rate increase). We also ended with Geico at a substantially lower premium. |

BAC is currently looking at a deal with Overland Insurance. They are a small company specializing in RV Insurance. They handle all major brands and can fit a policy to your needs. Our research shows that they have great prices. To top it off they will help support our club for each of our members who switches to them. The BAC board just voted to complete the deal with them so look for more information in the near future. If you would like more information contact George Morlan. Our partnership with overland is now complete. You can help support our club and get a quote at http://www.rvins.com/bvr/ |
