We changed coaches in the last year, going from a 1989 Contessa to a 2002 Marquis. As with any coach change you end up with things you miss and things you better enjoy with the new ride.

One thing my wife really misses is her view out the older coach side window. It was expansive and uncluttered by doors, oversize posts, and screens. Not all of that can be fixed but the screen part can be modified relatively easily and inexpensively. When you look through a screen at an angle it impairs the visibility much more dramatically than viewing through the screen straight on. By design that is what the passenger position forces one to do.

MCD will sew a sunscreen (others may also) that attaches with Velcro to the upper section of the screen door. It is easily removed for travel and just takes a moment to put up when you are staying. It has the advantage of being a sunscreen material for reduced sun and visibility into the coach from the outside. It only takes about an hour to remove the old screen, install the new, and the price was $80 which I thought was not too bad. They have a template from my information, so you would not have to deal with that issue, if you have the same Marquis door frame.

The only downside is that due to the sewing of the Velcro and edge hem, the screen ends up not quite as flat as the original screen material and you will need to strech it a bit while putting it up. This screen also compliments the MCD power windshield screen we just finished. If anyone is interested in installing these options I can pass along what I have learned.....the good, the bad, and the ugly.

You may consider attaching the screen material to the door frame with magnetic strips.  That would eliminate the thickness of the Velcro holding the screen away from the frame.  Little critters like to find those small gaps.

Actually the Velcro on the door frame and on the removable screen leave no gaps at all, so the critters will be staying out.

It is just some inevitable loss of flatness when sewing multiple layers of different materials together, they tend to bunch a little. With a little streching it is getting flatter with time. ...The magnet is a good idea if it could be glued on the door, which is aluminum, and was strong enough to hold everything in place... Velcro is what MCD uses.
