The hydro hot in our 06 Monterey works well on burner but I can get no heat with the electric?  It has been left on for hours with no hot water.  That the electric status in the belly shows a green light and there are no fault light . I did try the reset button but no positive results. Is it possible that the element could be bad and still get a green status light?

At the Aqua Hot website ( http://www.aquahot.com/eSource/ecom/eSource/default/Manuals.aspx ) you can find manuals by model number.  Each has a troubleshooting section.  For the electric element there are some voltage checks that can confirm the heating element actually has power to it.  Then you disconnect the element and check for continuity.

The electric element does not fail very often, but mine did burn out after 6 years of heavy use.  I changed it myself with "supervision" from a friend.  One tool that I had to have and was hard to find was a large socket that fit the element.

Roger Burke's forum in the above post was where I got my parts and advice.  Since then I've learned Orman Claxton is an active BAC member, Beaver owner, Hydro Hot specialist and he participates on this forum.

There is a good chance that the element in your Hydro Hot is bad.  It is easy enough to check.  Just turn the breaker off and check for a closed circuit between the two poles of the heater element.  You should see almost a direct short.  

If it is open then the element will need to be replaced.  You must drain most of the fluid out of the Hydro Hot and using a large socket (which you can buy in the plumbing department at Lowe's or borrow from a handy friend) remove the old element.  A replacement will probably need to come from Aqua Hot as they are often an odd wattage and shape.  This would be the time to check with Rodger Berke for a possible reduced price.

Last year I had to the same problem and found that the thermostat switch that controls the electric element had disintegrated.  It was an easy fix.  It screws into the side of the burner.  I did it myself.

  Thanks for all of the tips. I was testing for power as suggested and one of the wires running to the element fell out of the connector where it had been spliced.  Simple fix and no cost!  Forums are great.
