I have been wondering since we spent 2 weeks in the UK in 2004. We drove a Ford Galaxy 500 (not your old Galaxy 500, but a minivan style 5 seater, diesel 4 speed manual shift). We got 50mpg. The pound cost us $2.50, but the 50mpg saved us the difference from our horribly inefficient Infinity QX4, so our cost per mile was the same as it would have been at home. Now, with the pound below $1.50, driving there is cheaper than it is here. |
