Future Region 1 Rally Ideas - Print Topic

Please share your ideas for future rallies. You don't need to have all the details worked out before offering your thoughts. A little cooperative brain storming might just result in some fantastic rallies. Here are a few that have been offered over the past couple of months:
• Selkirk Loop - A beautiful 280 mile rolling rally through northeast Washington, southern British Columbia, and northwest Idaho, encircling the Selkirk Mountains.
• British Columbia - Explore a particular town, area or attraction such as Victoria, Butchart Gardens, Empress Hotel, Revelstoke
• Southern Idaho - Boise, Snake River
• Rogue River – Rafting, Jet Boat Rides
• Pendleton Round-up - Legendary early Fall Rodeo in Pendleton. OR
• Mystery Rolling Rally - A trip to ???????
• Leavenworth - Sound of Music
• San Juan Islands
• Pumpkin Patch in Sequim
• Port Townsend Jazz Festival
• Brownsville Country Music Festival – Brownsville, Oregon

Your comments on these ideas and any new ideas you can offer are really encouraged. Most of all, we would really love to have you sign on as a rally master or co-rally master. It is a remarkably rewarding way to contribute to the organization. And, don't worry about experience. We have some real masters of the art of planning rallies and they will be pleased to guide you through the process.

Selkirk Loop ... never been here so it sounds good to me.
Southern Idaho  ... we like being near water so this sounds good to me.
Rogue River  ... living in Oregon and have done the jet boat ride out of Gold Beach ... I can recommend this event.
Pendleton Round-up ... have read many fun articles about this event so would sign up for this  in a heart beat.
Leavenworth ... absolutely loved the movie .... this rally sounds like fun.
San Juan Islands ... would look forward to this rally.
Port Townsend Jazz Festival ... like music so this sounds like a fun rally.

Thanks for the input Tom! Looks like we woulod havge at least 2 coaches for most of these. Like you, I have always wanted to go to the Pendleton Round-up. If you or anyone else has any info about camping and attendance at the rodeo let me know and we can start some serious planning. I'll see what I can find out.

Another possibility is the Port Townsend Wooden Boat festival. The festival is held the 2nd weekend in September. In addition to the festival itself, Port Townsend is an interesting place to explore.

Please forgive dumb questions. We have yet to attend a rally.
Rallies are regional but can be attended by all BAC members?
Do we have any Scots in BAC and might there be any interest in a clan based rally? A gathering of the clans, so to speak? Perhaps at the highland games up by Everet?

You are correct in saying (Rallies are regional but can be attended by all BAC members). However if you think that a gathering of the clans rally is a good idea, please contact your VP. and see how we can make it happen. If you do not want to be the rally master, he may have someone else, or he can give you all of the assistance that you need to be the rally master yourself.

As for as the need to be a Scot to want to attend, I do not think that you have to be Scottish to want to celebrate the great Scottish Heritage.

A rally built around the Highland Games would be great. Like Gerald, I wouldn't suggest limiting it to just Scots because I know one Irishman (me) that would love to attend. I'll send you an e-mail in the next couple of days with some additional thoughts on your idea. Could I count on you to help organize the event?

I know that the 80 20 rule says that few people actualy get involved.  I dont want to be like that but I do have some health issues that have to be considered first.  We have never been to a BAC rally and so know next to nothing about anything!
We have never been to a highland games so again what I dont know begins to become daunting.  (for instance; are there permissions necessary from the various clan organizations?)

That said, we could help in some way I'm sure but perhaps 2011 is a better plan?  I dont know.

By all means, Irish too.  Heck, we were talking about a green derby for our green beaver on Patti's day.  I believe that there is a clan Moffat in Ireland as well so we could be well represented.

I will keep an eye out for that email.
