Beaver Coach Sales Parts and Service reopens

I just had a conversation with Ty Kelly at Beaver Coach Sales for the latest update. Although Beaver Coach Sales will actually be a different company because of the reorganization that was necessitated by the retirement of two principal partners, you will not be able to tell the difference. The parts and service departments will be opening on Wednesday February 1, 2012, and coach sales are open now in the same location, under the same name. The phone numbers will not change;
Sales 800-382-2597
Service 800-843-2967

Ken Carpenter (the Beaver service expert) will be answering the phone in the service department if anyone needs to schedule an appointment. The same service technicians will be back to fulfill your service needs.

The parts department will have the same knowledgeable parts people with the same large parts inventory that that they have always had.

Gerald

Northwest BAC Camping Circle

Below is an email I'm sending to everyone in Region 1 that has an email listed with Iris in the BAC Directory. If you are not in Region 1 or and would like to be part of this, please send me an email (bsprague@att.net).

Bill

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Rallies are the core of the BAC. Nothing will replace them. I’ve had fun at every one and my neck chain is become surprisingly long. Yet rallies require advanced planning and organization.

It has been suggested that there is a way make camping getaways in the Northwest Region a little more frequent and completely spontaneous. The idea is to create a shared list of members’ email addresses that would want notice of any opportunity to “circle the wagons”. It might be as simple as a member noticing a short stretch of good weather on the Oregon coast. Or, it might be in response to an unusual art exhibit. A member might broadcast an email that says, “We are in Sekiu and the salmon are biting. Joe’s RV Park has space. Call them at 999-999-9999.” Or, “There is a barrel tasting next weekend near McMinnville. We got reservations at Somewhere RV Park and they said they have room for more. Call them at 999-999-9999.”

The purpose of this email is to invite you to be on such an email list. The BAC already has your email address (which is why you are getting this). Any member can use the directory to look up any other member’s email address. Except for Iris and other officers, members don’t have all the email addresses in one file that can be pasted into the “To” section of an email program.

I will keep track of everyone that responds positively that they want to be included in the “NW BAC Camping Circle”. After a few weeks I will forward a file with all the positive responders to all that responded. Anyone in the group will be able to initiate an impromptu gathering. In other words, if 75 people say they want to try this, those 75 will have the file and any one of them can initiate a gathering. If don’t want to use your email server, I will send it for you.

I am posting a copy of this letter on the BAC website so members outside of Region 1 can be part of it too.

If this works, the various copies of the address file will grow out of date. I will keep a master file and replace it as necessary, perhaps yearly.

The good part of this is that fun things might happen. And, you don’t have to log on to anything to see where or when. The risk is that you might get a few emails you don’t want. Please remember, this is not to replace rallies, but to supplement them.

Please respond by sending me an email that says “I want to be in the NW BAC Camping Circle. Put me on the list.”

Best….

Bill Sprague
Region 1 Director

I have a 2001 Bev Marquis, 40'. When I store the unit, I turn off the coach power. Does this also shut off the Solar Panel charging unit? This is my first Beaver, and I'm afraid it is more complicated than I am. Any help would be appreciated.

50 amp surge protector

What is going to be the best bang for my buck when I buy a 50 amp surge protector for the coach. I know we can hard wire or go with a portable unit. I know we can spend anywhere from $100 to $500. But do I need to spend $500 to be protected? I would appreciate your views and experience with these.
Barb
