I-5 travel

My wife and myself will be heading south from Seattle to palm springs mid march, we plan to stop 3 nights once in Roseburg, OR(Twin River RV resort) then at Orland (Parkway RV resort) and then we have a problem. When I shop online for RV parks on I-5 from Modesto to Bakersfield I see no good parks on the I-5 route. I would like to stay on interstate. It would appear that a stop over in Bakersfield adds an additional hour of travel.

My question is has anyone got a lead for an overnight park on I-5, we plan to head into Indio,CA the last day and I wanted to move through LA mid morning or early afternoon to beat any traffic.

Jerry

MCD Side Door Sun Screen

We changed coaches in the last year, going from a 1989 Contessa to a 2002 Marquis. As with any coach change you end up with things you miss and things you better enjoy with the new ride.

One thing my wife really misses is her view out the older coach side window. It was expansive and uncluttered by doors, oversize posts, and screens. Not all of that can be fixed but the screen part can be modified relatively easily and inexpensively. When you look through a screen at an angle it impairs the visibility much more dramatically than viewing through the screen straight on. By design that is what the passenger position forces one to do.

MCD will sew a sunscreen (others may also) that attaches with Velcro to the upper section of the screen door. It is easily removed for travel and just takes a moment to put up when you are staying. It has the advantage of being a sunscreen material for reduced sun and visibility into the coach from the outside. It only takes about an hour to remove the old screen, install the new, and the price was $80 which I thought was not too bad. They have a template from my information, so you would not have to deal with that issue, if you have the same Marquis door frame.

The only downside is that due to the sewing of the Velcro and edge hem, the screen ends up not quite as flat as the original screen material and you will need to strech it a bit while putting it up. This screen also compliments the MCD power windshield screen we just finished. If anyone is interested in installing these options I can pass along what I have learned.....the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Eclipse Patio Awning

We have been having problems with our Patio awning. While going through the proceedures to test the control box, I managed to blow the fuse providing power to the Patio awning and the door awning. Our Beaver manual states that the power is provided through a mimibreaker in the drivers side outside bay. I could not find any such breaker and called Monaco for help. I spoke with Rob who searched for quite some time to find anything that related to an awning. He finally found a reference for the door awning which related to the No. 8 fuse in the fuse box in the bathroom. This fuse is labeled to control the t-stats, sat. power, and tv boost. Well, it also controls the door awning and the patio awning. Replaced the fuse and all is well. Our thanks go to Rob, and it was great to know that Monaco service is available to help when needed. We needed only to provide our coach number for him to search his available resources.
